JYP Entertainment has released an official statement about an Ilbe user who made death threats against TWICE’s Mina.
Ilbe is an online platform, which is community-based with disturbing and hate-filled content with far-right political views. On 13th June an Ilbe user wrote a threatening post to kill TWICE’s, Mina.
The post was a photo of the user’s hand and a large kitchen knife placed near the wrist. The caption read
“If you don’t slap your boyfriend and rip apart his mouth I am going to come kill you.”
The post has been deleted however screenshots of the post have been spreading online with people fearing for Mina’s safety.
Later on, the Ilbe user posted a handwritten apology:
“I wrote the post without considering that it would be a threat to the person directly involved and cause fear. I would like to ask for forgiveness as I pathetically apologise to Mina and TWICE’s fans after belatedly realising that this resulted in great shock.”
JYP Entertainment has stated in the past that they would take strong legal action against defamation, threats, rumours and sexual harassment towards their artists and this is no different.
JYP Entertainment official statement:
“Hello, this is JYP Entertainment. After discussing with our legal team the post made on June 13 by an Ilbe user which contained a death threat against TWICE’s Mina, we relay that we will be filing civil and criminal suits. There will be no leniency. Also, we will be taking a strong stance against similar incidents in the future with the help of all aspects of legal action possible.”
