[MUSIC MONDAY ] – The Top 5 Bops of Last Week

Another week, another time to run down my faves from last week!

HyunA – BABE

THE QUEEN IS BACK! On her 10th anniversary release, Hyuna demonstrates her evolving identity yet stays true to her style in ‘BABE.’ This song is a lot lighter and fun compared to her previous title release which has had a tendency to be more powerful and hard hitting, yet Hyuna still keeps her cute and sexy look fans know and love her for. ‘BABE’ is playful and youthful track and the more EDM sound highlights Hyuna’s evolution over the years and she shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. What do you say Hyuna, here’s to another 10 years? We sure hope so!

Jeong Sewoon ft Sik-K – Just U

Top vocalist from Produce 101 Season 2, Jeong Sewoon, makes his solo debut with this funky track produced by the trendy producer team, Groovy Room. If you watched the show, then Sewoon’s smooth vocals come as no surprise as he sings about his crush. Sik-K (aka the man I would sell my kidney for) adds some sex appeal and grit to an otherwise sweet song as he raps and moves in front of some red striped lights reminiscent of Usher’s ‘Yeah!’ music video (I’m sorry that’s the first thing I thought of!). The fun and cute animation and graphic design throughout help convey the message of the song and the catchy hook will have you singing for the rest of the week. Be sure to check this track out!

Babylon – La La La ft Chungha

Babylon refuses to let summer end with his new track ‘La La La’ with the always beautiful Chungha! The bright and neon colours of the music video match the vibrant track that demands you dance to. With fashion as fly as the dance moves, Babylon and Chungha work well together as they jam to this funky track and you can’t help but wonder where your invite was to this dance party! Babylon possesses one of the most underrated vocals in the Korean music industry and I hope with this track that people start to recognise his talent soon.

Henry – That One

The underrated star of SM, Henry, highlights his always smooth vocals in his new English track titled ‘That One’ mixed by the one and only Cha Cha Malone! The minimal video lets the viewer’s attention focus on the ambient RnB track perfect for listening to on a quiet evening and Henry effortlessly carries the track. You can’t help but fall for Henry in this song and music video as he sounds as beautiful as he looks. I will say this once and only once, DO NOT IGNORE TALENT!

Crush –마지막 축제Last Festival’ (with Band Wonderlust)

Crush’s soft and ethereal vocals are back with his new song ‘마지막 축제,’ and with the collaboration with Band Wonderlust, the song helps prepare you for the new autumn season. The light guitar, trumpets, soft drums and beautifully solo and harmonised vocals create a song perfect for those chill fall mornings and it helps prepare you for the day ahead. The accompanying video evokes a sense of nostalgia which compliments the reflecting period of autumn as summer comes to an end and Crush embodies this perfectly. This is a lovely and relaxing addition to your new season playlist.
